Teaching & Learning Strategies: The learning outcomes detailed above will be achieved through the following:- • Lectures – outlining of knowledge and ideas to learner • Independent Learning – learners directed to relevant reading materials (conventional and e-learning) with a view to embedding and enhancing outline knowledge and developing independent research skills • Class Discussion/Debate – learners to engage in class discussions to develop communication and analytical skills • Project Work/Problem Solving – learners to work together to solve various legal scenarios.
Module Aim: The aim of this module is to give learners an introduction to the Irish Legal System, explore aspects of Business Law, Probate Law and Regulatory Issues, and extract the provisions of Irish and International Law which impact on Farmers.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Critically evaluate the operation of the Irish legal system in a farming context.
LO2 Outline and analyse the key concepts of relevance to farming in Probate Law, Succession and CAT and apply these to practical situations.
LO3 Identify and apply the legal rules applying to contract law and product liability in order to determine the likely outcome in fictional agribusiness scenarios.
LO4 Identify the main regulatory issues arising in the area of sustainable agribusiness.
