Teaching & Learning Strategies: • Teaching will be a blend of lectures and case studies • There will be at least one guest lecturer from a leading leasing company executive to cover the financial and legislative aspects of the industry.
Module Aim: To provide students with the knowledge and skills required to operate within the technical area of the aircraft leasing industry.

On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:

Managing the Maintenance Contract
- Introduction to the Tasks - Inspections - Asset Risk Management - Residual Values - Customer Priorities - The contract - Workshop - sample lease contract/s - Maintenance Reserve Calculations - Managing the Contract - Procedures - Negotiation and conflict resolution
Technical records administration
- Processes – the need for a systematic approach - Typical company systems/approaches - Record inventories - Required records - Actual records - Gap analysis - Closing gaps and understanding of what is vital and what “nice to have” - Traceability - Back to birth records – “dirty fingerprints” - Component lists - Mods, Ads , SBs, STCs - Component Certificates - Dealing with inadequate/missing records - Differences in airline and authority approach to records - Examples of problems likely to be encountered - Operations flight data monitoring (OFDM)
Maintenance programmes
- MRB and MPD - Status of aircraft in relation to MPD - Company Maintenance programmes - Operating environment - Maintenance outside hangars - Specific costing of Airframe and Engine maintenance - Bridging programmes/checks and how to define them - Structural sampling – fleet programs, sampling, standalone aircraft - “catch-up” programmes - High ($) value Mods/AD’s by aircraft/fleet type that you may meet - Aircraft storage and storage programmes - Mid-term audits
Practical - Maintenance Repair Organisation
• Students will visit a Maintenance Repair Organisation for one day to gain practical experience of a physical aircraft inspection from an owner’s perspective (high dollar items). • They will also gain an understanding of: - Maintenance planning - Engineering design - Quality Assurance - Repairs - Paint
Guest Lectures
