Teaching & Learning Strategies: This module will be delivered via two hours of lectures per week and one two-hour practical per week for one term. Students may be required to access the material via Blackboard in advance of the class and practicals to encourage active learning. To consolidate lectures and practicals, students will normally be required to carry out assignments, give presentations, take formative quizzes and multiple choice questions. Any course-related issue or questions that may arise will be discussed at lectures or during practical classes. Course lecture summaries, course calendar, announcements and other course-related material will be available on Blackboard, a virtual learning environment. Students can contact lecturer outside of class hours to discuss formative feedback on their progress in the module. The practical component will allow students to develop the required technical competencies, attitudes and behaviours and promote deep learning via investigation of a problem , application of prior knowledge and analysis of results thus generating new knowledge.
Module Aim: To provide the student with an understanding of the anatomical structure of the trunk, head and neck.

Skull
The bones and joints of the skull
Trunk
The osteology, arthrology, myology and neurology of the trunk
Nervous System
The nervous system of the body with special reference to the brain
Review
Review of essential anatomical knowledge and palpation techniques
Practical
Students will learn to identify and palpate relevant anatomical landmarks of the trunk and skull. Students will also learn how to practically examine the nerves of the body.
