Elective Regulation
A block placement of 12 weeks of 400 hours must be completed. Module contact hours are for one term only. In order to be eligible to go on placement, learners must have 80% attendance in the preparatory practice workshops. Learners who fail the work placement element of the Supervised Professional Practice module shall be provided with one repeat opportunity in the next academic year, where IT Carlow is satisfied with the learner’s preparedness to practice. Learners must have at least 80% attendance and a mark of 40% in all modules to pass that module, be eligible to proceed to year 3 and go on placement in year 3. Students may EXIT at this stage of the programme with a Higher Certificate in Arts in Applied Social Studies (Embedded Exit Award), provided they have achieved the required level 6 learning outcomes. Learners are not permitted to carry a module into the next academic year. Academic Regulations apply.
