Module Aim: This module introduces the learner to theatre design explaining the history, theories, and strategies of theatre design. This module will give the learner contextual and critical understanding of the fundamentals of theatre design by examining key changes in the history of theatre. This expands the learners' knowledge on how these design languages interact and create meaning for the audience. In addition through an examination of case studies students will develop their conceptual and analytical thinking in this area.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Identify and describe different historical case studies in set design for theatre.
LO2 Analyse and compare significant examples in set design for theatre.
LO3 Evaluate case studies in theatre design.
LO4 Develop academic reading and writing skills for module assignments in this area. And/or develop critical thinking skills through engagement with video/podcasts to complete assignment by submitting audio and/or oral component.
