Teaching & Learning Strategies: There will be a combination of tutorials, demonstrations, screenings, practical workshops, production exercises and group discussion/critiques. Students will enhance their skills through project based learning and analysis of their practical work.
Module Aim: The aim of this module is to instil fundamental skills in single camera video production. While this module primarily focuses on camera and editing techniques, it also aims to develop and improve student's skills in the varying roles of a basic production crew. From conception to completion, students will create a number of video productions, culminating at the end of the academic year in a production for a specified audience.

Module Content & Assessment
Students will learn the concepts, procedures and technical skills required to produce varying content for television (shot on a single camera). There will be extended hands on tuition, alongside demonstrations and workshops using the college equipment. Particular attention will be paid to the development of skills in camera work and editing. Students will develop a solid grounding in the various roles in a basic production crew; scriptwriter, director, producer, camera, sound, grip and editor. A greater understanding of the language of television shall also be developed as the students will partake in activities throughout the module. • Camera and lighting workshops • Audio production workshops • Editorial workshops • Script development and analysis • Pre-Production Planning • Post Production • Assess the completed production and their role within through critical analysis
Tutorials, Discussions and Screenings
Through formal lectures, screenings and discussions students will develop an awareness of the theory side and an ability to critically evaluate various productions.
Practical workshops, demonstrations and tutorials
Through practicing what they learn in tutorials and demonstrations, students will learn and apply the varying technical skills to operate video/audio recording equipment, and editing software.
Seminars, presentations, screenings and group discussions/critique
Students will study, view, discuss, present and debate varying production content.
Idea/Concept Generation
Students will learn to formulate ideas and draft scripts for varied projects.
Production Crew
Students will learn to interact and interrelate as part of a production groups, and in doing so learn the language of television.
Critical Evaluation
Students cognitively learn from assessing their productions and their role within through reflective, critical analysis.
