Teaching & Learning Strategies: There will be a combination of tutorials, demonstrations, screenings, practical workshops, production exercises and group discussion/critiques. Students will enhance their skills through theoretical lectures, project based learning and analysis of their practical work.
Module Aim: Building upon the skills and knowledge acquired in Single Camera Video Production and Scriptwriting, this module will expand the students understanding of shooting at various locations - in some cases with two or more cameras. In post production, students technical abilities and capacity to visualise workflows will be consolidated. Cinematic theory and technique will be further explored in order to develop their knowledge of more in depth concepts. Through the application of their enhanced capabilities, students will make a number of high quality productions throughout the year that will be filmed at off campus locations.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Advanced skills in media production, as demonstrated in individual roles and team work, culminating in the production of various videos in which a specified amount of action that is simultaneously captured on two or more cameras at an off campus location.
LO2 Ability to edit together a coherent production that includes graphics and extra media from different sources.
LO3 Ability to do reconnaissance work, risk assessments and map out locations with a view to develop a shooting, lighting, and audio plan that will best suit the production at hand.
LO4 Demonstrate a deep knowledge of production techniques, research and routines/processes of the media industry, as evidence in the preproduction and production files, subsequent project management and supporting material.
LO5 Critically evaluate media roles and skills in production work and the wider context of production via personal project evaluation and project presentation and screening.

Module Content & Assessment
This module is a direct progression from the skills acquired in Single Camera Video Production and it will contain both technical and theoretical aspects of television production. Due to the advancement in student's shooting and editing skills, there will be a strong emphasis put on the audio-visual standards in the final edits. Productions will be shot off campus and some of them with two or more cameras – therefore pre-production, production and post-production will become more difficult to execute. Throughout this module students can expect: • Advancement in camera work and technical knowledge • Post Production development - edit decision making and technical know-how • An advancement of planning on location shoots with regard to multi-camera/lighting set ups and the recording of audio • Development of pre-production • Abilities in reconnaissance of locations/filling out risk assessments and location clearance forms • Creation of a number of productions for specific audiences
Tutorials, Discussions and Screenings
Through formal lectures, screenings and discussions, students will develop an awareness of the theories behind how productions are made. An appreciation for aspects like light and colour, lens choice, framing, texture and camera movement will be explored. Students will advance their abilities to critically evaluate their own work and various genres within the industry.
Practical workshops and demonstrations
Advanced practical applications of the various aspects of video production.
Content for production
Enhanced preparation of production documentation and execution of 'on location' video recording.
Target audience
Enhanced understanding of the intended/target audience. This must be reflected in the finished edits that groups produce.
Talent and contributors
Sourcing of talent and contributors from outside the institute is expected. This gears the students towards sourcing, preparing and working with actors and credible contributors in their productions.
Critical Evaluation
Students cognitively learn from assessing their productions and their role within through reflective, critical analysis.
