Module Aim: |
The aims of the subject are:
(1) to develop a greater knowledge of the principles and practice of project management, general management and health and safety;
(2) to develop a knowledge of and understanding of the management of the human resource;
(3) to develop leadership, business development, management and negotiation skills;
(4) to develop an entrepreneurial spirit |
Learning Outcomes |
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to: |

demonstrate an understanding of project management, safety management and the management of other resources in a construction environment |
LO2 |
apply current management techniques in project management and safety management in a construction environment |
LO3 |
manage and negotiate materials and plant resources for a construction project using modern techniques |
LO4 |
demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of risk and apply standard risk assessment techniques to assess and manage risk. |
LO5 |
demonstrate a good knowledge of different procurement options in a construction environment. |
LO6 |
prepare, implement and manage a Health and Safety plan and demonstrate a good knowledge of the application of Health and Safety issues and regulations that apply in construction and FM environments. |
LO7 |
manage and lead a team or small business |
LO8 |
demonstrate an understanding or marketing in the context of the construction and FM industries |
LO9 |
prepare written reports on management related issues and to present and discuss key management concepts with the module lecturer and other students. |
