Module Aim: • To familiarize learners with the development of architecture and construction from the end of the Renaissance up to and including the Modern Movement, with particular emphasis on the influence of new materials and technologies • To familiarize learners with the development and current state of contemporary international and Irish architecture • To develop learners’ understanding of the relationship between architectural design and detail • To introduce learners to typical historical construction of floors, walls, roofs and windows
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the historical developments in architecture and construction technology that underpin changes in building design from the end of the Renaissance to the Modern Movement.
LO2 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the development and current state of contemporary international and Irish architecture
LO3 Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the of the relationship between architectural design and detail
