Teaching & Learning Strategies: Spanning a period not less than 12 weeks, ideally the student will gain relevant experience in a variety of aspects of the operation of a pharmaceutical/scientific environmental industry. A range of scientific skills & techniques, procedures and processes will be gained, developed and improved during the work placement. The student will record and review their experience in a work place journal which will form the basis of their final report. This report will be validated by the employer / supervisor.
Module Aim: To provide the student with an opportunity, within a structured setting, to gain experience of the work environment in the scientific/pharmaceutical environmental industrial sector.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Be able to describe and discuss the host organisations and appraise and evaluate the organisation's contribution to the industrial and commercial environment in which it operates.
LO2 Work in individual and team based scenarios in a dynamic work environment.
LO3 Apply, develop and integrate skill sets studied in academic programme.
LO4 Evaluate the various skills acquired in the work placement programme.
LO5 Integrate into the social structure of the work-place.
LO6 Apply and critically evaluate health and safety assessments in a commercial setting.
LO7 Develop the skills and confidence to choose and acquire suitable employment
