Module Aim: (1) To develop a knowledge of how the industry operates (2) To teach skills in the areas of scheduling, materials control, plant and labour management, technical writing and effective use of meetings (3) Teach basic measurement skills
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 To describe how the industry and building sites operates, and to understand the planning and organisation of work teams and time management
LO2 To prepare schedules, Gantt charts and plant costings and the process involved in management of labour plant and materials
LO3 To explain the importance of site safety along with its legal and economic background
LO4 To prepare properly structured and formatted simple technical reports
LO5 Participate effectively in meetings and demonstrate an understanding of the role of their participants
LO6 To measure simple building work and understand the role of tender and contract document
