- The following modules require that students must participate in class work, practical work and project work and must achieve a minimum of 50% in these elements of continuous assessment in order to have satisfied the module learning outcomes: - Earthworks Analysis
- Students may EXIT at this stage of the programme with a Higher Certificate in Science in Civil Engineering (Embedded Exit Award), provided they have achieved the required learning outcomes and have accumulated 120 credits. IT Carlow academic regulations apply. |

- The final award mark for a student graduating with a BEng (Honours) in Civil Engineering will be calculated by taking 25% of year 3 GPA & 75% of year 4 GPA. |

Stage 4 / Semester 1

Elective Regulation - All modules are mandatory
- The following modules require that students must participate in class work, practical work and project work and must achieve a minimum of 50% in these elements of continuous assessment in order to have satisfied the module learning outcomes: - Geotechnical Engineering III and Environmental Hydraulics I
- Engineer in Society and Work Placement Module is weighted (5 credits only) to allow for the fact that Work Placement portion is Pass/Fail. To pass the overall module the student must pass both the Engineer in Society and the Work Placement portions of the module so as to achieve the Module Learning Outcomes.
- The Work Placement element of the Engineer in Society and Work Placement Module will occur during the summer between year 3 & 4, where students will be required to complete a minimum of 150 hours .
- The final award mark for a student graduating with a BEng (Honours) in Civil Engineering will be calculated by taking 25% of year 3 GPA & 75% of year 4 GPA. |

- The Dissertation module is delivered on a year-long basis with the credits awarded at the end of Semester 8 |
