Module Aim:
The aim of this module is to introduce learners to the history of and current practice in early childhood education and to enable learners to construct their early childhood education and care practice framework..
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:

Describe the history and development of early childhood education in Ireland

Explain the importanceof play in the pedagogy of early childhood education

Describe how babies learn about themselves and their environment

Identify the impact of equality and diverse practice on children and their families in early years settings

Identify the factors that provide the foundation for curious, literate and numerate practice

Explain the importance of the active child in early childhood education

Describe and descuss the role of the adult (parent & EC practitioner) in supporting learning
