Module Aim: The aim of this module is: To develop greater knowledge of our Architectural Heritage, some understanding of the Materials & Technology associated with it, as well as a knowledge of Conservation Principles and Irish Planning Legislation
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Have some knowledge of Conservation Principles and current Legislation. Knowledge of the changing nature and increasing complexity of the legal and regulatory environment, and the necessity to seek advice or update knowledge from accredited sources, as appropriate
LO2 Have an understanding of how to record historic building fabric using measured survey processes and survey drawings, photographs and sketches.
LO3 Have an understanding of how to research historic building fabric and to seek information from accredited sources
LO4 Have some knowledge of how to describe an historic building’s condition, general care & maintenance
LO5 Have some knowledge of traditional building materials; the history and evolution of construction technology; and the theory, principles and science in the technical design process
