Population, Urbanization and The Environment
Population growth and decline.Urbanisation and city life. Theories of the environment, global responses and sustainable societies.
Global Inequality
Measuring ecomonic inequality.Theories of development. Access to resources - food, energy and technology. Internnational response to global inequality.
Politics, Government and Social Movements
Global Power. Authoritarian and democratic politics. The global spread of democracy, social movements and social change.
Nationalism and Ethnic Conflict
Nations and nationalism, conflict war and genocide, religion and terrorism.
Migration
Refugees and asylum seekers. Economic v's forced migration. Restrictism v's open borders.
Transnational Crime and Corruption
Transnational crime and corruption as an issue in world politics Crime and corruption on the international agenda: key concepts Managing crime and corruption: criminal organisations versus states. Crime, corruption and world politics Child labour and Human Trafficking.
