Teaching & Learning Strategies: Lectures - communication of knowledge and ideas from lecturer to student. Lab sessions - communication of knowledge by demonstration from the lecturer to the student. Problem Solving Exercises - student will work both individually and as part of a team to resolve various computer applications tasks/ scenarios. E-Learning - the module will be supported with online learning materials. Self-Directed Independent Learning - the emphasis on independent learning will develop strong and autonomous work and learning practices. Project Work - Students will produce a professional standard project by applying the knowledge, skills and competencies learned during the course.
Module Aim: The aim of this module is to develop in the student an understanding of technology in business and to conduct a project which integrates a number of computer applications, producing a high quality report and presentation.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Evaluate a range of technologies encountered in modern organisations including Information Systems:Concepts and definitions, organisational strategy and competitive advantage, data management and protecting information assets in the organisation.
LO2 Create and manage a database and learn key features of Publisher
LO3 Produce a final report and presentation which requires the students to integrate business and computer applications and which requires the use of advanced computer application skills
