Teaching & Learning Strategies: Traditional theory classes incorporating class interaction. Workshop style classes for developing ER Diagrams, normalisation, process modelling etc Use of case studies where relevant (here we explore the existence of key theoretical concepts within case study material)
Module Aim: To provide the student with an insight into the design, development and utilisation of information systems in the modern organisation.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Understand the different categories of information system that can be deployed in a modern enterprise
LO2 Have a detailed understanding of the different approaches to information systems development
LO3 Have a detailed understanding of the different system acquisition approaches and their impact on business strategy realisation
LO4 Be familiar with emerging concepts in the information systems discipline

Emerging IS Topics
Current areas of interest and any others that become relevant within the information systems discipline e.g. frameworks, case studies approaches to systems development, outsourcing, acquisition etc.
