Teaching & Learning Strategies: This subject will be delivered in a student centred way in that the students will be guided through the process and the task of creating the exhibition will be essentially a problem based learning approach including the request of lectures on particular topics (subject to resources).
Module Aim: The aims of this subject are: To equip the student with practical skills for mounting a public exhibition; To introduce the student to professional standards of organising and promoting an exhibition and working in group context; To provide the student with the experience and confidence of participating in an exhibition; To foster an awareness of the importance of working as a team.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Be able to demonstrate knowledge of the various tasks required to mount a small public exhibition in a specific venue such as (a) Orgainising publicity and advertising (b) Seeking sponsorship (c) Locating a venue.
LO2 Be able to demonstrate an awareness of the importance of presentation for the student’s own art practice through (a) Designing or editing work for a specific space (b) Providing suitable information for viewers/audience
LO3 Be able to demonstrate an awareness of the importance of presentation for the student’s own art practice through (a) Designing or editing work for a specific space (b) Providing suitable information for viewers/audience
LO4 Be able to assess appropriate strategies for presenting their work in the specific context of the temporary exhibition space.
LO5 Be able to make an informed assessment of their contribution to the creation of the show through (a) Participating in self and peer assessment process (b) Creating a reflective journal/notebook
LO6 Be able to anticipate potential issues for future public exhibitions through (a) Providing conclusions and focused questions in their reflective journal (b) Participating in a thorough post exhibition analysis and peer assessment (c) Reflecting on ground rules for future group work

Professional Practices
Students will be asked to locate a space for a group exhibition and to work as a team .delivering a public exhibition. There will be guidance by a tutor throughout the process of planning designing and carryout the exhibition. There will also be seminars about different approaches to exhibition design.

Project Assessment for Problem Based approach will be based on a product process model including peer and self assessment. Students will be asked to decide the ratio of marks for the process and the product (the exhibition) as well as their individual work in the show. An external assessor could also mark the exhibition.
