Teaching & Learning Strategies: Students work on in teams of four to a detailed specification for some common type of business. The tutor assigned to the team provides the specification. The team develops a web based dynamic database system. They produce a database design, user interface and code. Detailed standards, guidelines and deadlines are published and strictly enforced. The deliverables are the database design, the user interface design and the code.
Module Aim: To provide the learner with the experience of working in a small team to produce a web application with database integration for a common type of business.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Engage, communicate and collaborate with other students as part of a small team.
LO2 Understand the importance of time management skills when working to a deadline.
LO3 Appreciate the importance of advance planning as it relates to project management.
LO4 Produce fully tested, working code.
LO5 Produce high quality project documentation to the required specification and format.
LO6 Present and discuss their work confidently in a demonstration setting.
