Teaching & Learning Strategies: The delivery of the module is primarily practical. Tutorials, demonstrations, workshops and screenings will be implemented to strengthen the skills and knowledge of the student.
Module Aim: The aim of the module is a follow on progression from TV Production I. The student's focus on larger productions strengthening their skills and knowledge in conceptual, written, organisational and technical processes.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Demonstrate theoretical and technical skills in the operating of various studio equipment.
LO2 Apply awareness of how creative, technical, ethical and administrative skills combine to produce a television studio programme.
LO3 Understand the importance of attendance and interrelation within the group dynamic in developing and executing a studio programme.
LO4 Devise, plan, script and produce television studio based programmes for a specific audience.
LO5 Analyse and evaluate the processes, the finished production and their own role within through critical analysis.

Module Content & Assessment
Progressing from TV Studio I student's continue to develop the basic technical skills necessary to operate equipment in the studio environment. Production work is a group activity and students will receive a solid grounding in both editorial and technical areas. During this module, the student will: • Conceive, formulate and experiment with ideas and experience the processes of communicating messages using aural and visual codes in television production. • Understand the importance and conventions of target audience. • Pitch ideas of studio based programmes to an acting commissioning editor. • Conceive, plan, formulate and draft scripts for television content and programmes. • Understand and assume roles of the various studio personnel / crew. • Competently and safely operate equipment in the studio environment. • Work competently and coherently as a production group. • Understand the ‘language’ of studio production. • Analyse scenic design considerations. • Prepare, compile and produce comprehensive production files of their work. • Record ‘As-Live’ television programmes of specified content and duration. • Assess the processes, the completed production and their role within through critical analysis.
Practical studio workshops, demonstrations and tutorials
Students will analyse, learn and apply technical skills necessary to operate studio equipment, receiving hands-on tuition in studio operations.
Seminars, presentations, screenings and group discussions/critique
Students will study, view, discuss, present and debate varying production content.
Idea / concept generation
Students will learn to conceive and formulate ideas and draft scripts for varied productions.
Production crew
Students will learn to interact and interrelate as part of a large production group and in doing so, learn the language of television production.
Set design and scenic considerations
Students will explore and execute scenic concepts for production.
Critical analysis
Students cognitively learn from assessing their productions and their role within through reflective, critical analysis.
