Teaching & Learning Strategies: This module will be delivered via four theory classes of one hour duration per week. Students will be required to access relevant course documents, diagrams and links via Blackboard in advance of the class to encourage active learning. Module-related questions that may arise will be discussed at lectures. Pair, collaborative and group tasks will be utilized during class to facilitate learning.
Module Aim: To examine the causes and mechanisms of damage and repair of neuromusculoskeletal injuries. To explore evidence for use in determining diagnosis, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prognosis for pathologies in individual patients.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Describe the process of injury and healing in connective tissue, skeletal muscle tissue and peripheral nervous tissue
LO2 Discuss the aetiology and pathomechanisms of neuromusculoskeletal injuries of the upper quadrant.
LO3 Describe and explain how the phase of healing determines the therapy and rehabilitation strategy and propose a management protocol based on the presenting pathology.
