Teaching & Learning Strategies: The laboratory will facilitate the contextual learning allowing the student to apply the skills acquired to a cultural / historical project. All work submitted will be unique to each student in this context, and the focus will shift to creativity and applied learning. Tutorials and labs will operate on a ‘learning by doing’ ethos and an open ‘design studio’ type of learning environment will be encouraged. The focus of Year 3 will be in the field of study and should be directly applied to urban and rural field studies module. Photography and video in context will focus on objects and situations in their cultural context.
Module Aim: The aims of this module are: • To develop advanced skills in document design. • To develop skills in the area of professional academic research methods; • To introduce the student to image capture in cultural context; • To introduce the student to image manipulation software and techniques; • To encourage the student to present and share this information within the academic environment.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Research a topic in context to a particular element of cultural heritage,
LO2 Use a digital and analogue camera and video camera to capture objects and landscapes of cultural significance;
LO3 Upload and manipulate the captured data in associated software;
LO4 Create a website for the dissemination of the visual data;
LO5 Present the media to the class group.
LO6 Record and edit oral histories/records.

Video channels, hosting and topics all to be agreed with class tutor. Post the video file on a blog based website constructed by the student. This project will then be presented to the class.
