Teaching & Learning Strategies: Lecture and project presentation, Thesis/ Case study, site visits and External/visiting lecturers. Delivery of the module will revolve around practical work that the student will submit at the end of the module. Classes will be used to prepare the student for project exercises. Project exercises should reinforce the learning from classes and show alternative application of the learning to expand the scenarios in which they may be used. All theory will be supported using examples and practical exercises. Tutorials and labs will operate on a ‘learning by doing’ ethos and an open ‘design studio’ type of learning environment will be encouraged. Day trips to cultural institutions for research, and information, or symposia, to reinforce the application of the subject will be integral to the learning.
Module Aim: The aims of this module are: • To introduce the student to the concept of Live Project work in the local community and a worldwide context in relation to appreciating and analysing Cultural projects and sites. • To provide the student with an understanding of organisation and structure of various Cultural projects that exist in the community and a wider world context. The student will explore the possibilities and limitations of Cultural projects both in terms of inception and sustainability and realization.
