Students will be encouraged to actively partake in class discussions and group work. A variety of teaching methodologies including the use of case studies, research assignments, lectures and onsite visits to historic sites and museums will be employed. The lecturer will act as facilitator to the students’ learning process. Frequent and immediate feedback regarding any assignments should be given to students.
Module Aim:
The aims of this module are to:
• Give students a thematic and chronological overview of the history of Ireland.
• Investigate, examine and evaluate the various forces that shaped the political, economic, social and cultural landscape of Ireland.
• provide opportunities for students to investigate how the interaction of individuals, groups, and institutions creates human history and shapes the world of succeeding generations
• provide students with a historical perspective that improves their understanding of the contemporary world
