Teaching & Learning Strategies: It is envisaged that this module will prominently take place online using the college VLE Blackboard, along with some face to face classes at the start and during the term. Online class will take place one evening a week on a set day and time. Online lectures will incorporate a mixture of presentations, example and student exercises/problem-solving, question and answer sessions, group discussions along with online resources.
Module Aim: This module covers the key requirements of the health and safety legislation including Machinery Directives, the role and contents of the safety statement and accident prevention within an industrial environment.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Demonstrate knowledge of the key requirements of the Safety Health and Welfare at Work framework legislation including the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
LO2 Explain the concept of risk management and apply the hazard identification and risk assessment process
LO3 Implement accident reporting and investigation in accordance with legislative requirements.
LO4 Demonstrate a working knowledge of a Safety Statement and its content.
