Module Aim: This module provides the student with an understanding of modern Construction Site Management methods, and of the systems and procedures that are used to control construction projects.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Plan and control construction projects using project management techniques.
LO2 Estimate, allocate and level resources for construction tasks.
LO3 Estimate costs of buildings at different project stages and compare to budgets
LO4 Analyse the Health and Safety obligations of the Construction Manager.

Indicative Content
(1) Operations Management
Sequencing, work breakdown structure analysis, duration calculation, subcontractor programme management (tender, short-term progress, and forensic claims).
(2) Subcontractor Management
Contract documents production, subcontractor tendering procedures, post tender documentation production and control.
(3) Cost Control Systems
Cost planning and value engineering principles, programme related cashflow, budgeting, cost value recording techniques.
(4) Reporting Systems
Project progress monitoring systems, progress feedback mechanisms, progress recording, reporting and presentation.
(5) Health and Safety - Site Manager
Obligations in Health and Safety, documentation, process, risk assessments for the construction site
