Spanning a period not less than 12 weeks, ideally the student will gain relevant experience in a variety of aspects of the operation of a pharmaceutical/scientific industry. A range of scientific skills & techniques, procedures and processes will be gained, developed and improved during the work placement. The student will record and review the experience in a work place journal which will form the basis of a final report. This report will be validated by the employer / supervisor.
Module Aim:
To provide the student with an opportunity, within a structured setting, to gain experience of the work environment in the scientific/pharmaceutical industrial sector.

A detailed work placement report submitted to the college placement supervisor at the end of placement. The workplace report will consist of the following:
The host organisation: overview of the host company, the organisational structure, the student position in the organisation.
Duties and responsibilities: the duties and responsibilities fitted into the overall scheme of activities within the company.
The skills developed and used: induction and training received, enhancement of previously developed skills.
