Module Aim: The aim of this module is to further enhance the learner’s understanding of the role of creativity for self-awareness and self-expression. This module will explore the benefits of creative and recreational interventions within social care practice for relationship development, to promote choice and foster meaningful experiences with service users.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Understand creativity and learn how to facilitate a variety of creative interventions to meet the needs of service users in different services D2 2.12, D5 16.
LO2 Demonstrate a partnership approach to professional practice with creative interventions centred on choice and capacity D1 3, D2 12, D5 13 16.
LO3 Recognise role of Creativity for self-expression and self-awareness, with an emphasis on values and professional judgements in practice D1 8 22, D5 13.
LO4 Learn how to use activity to develop relationships and explore the dynamics of power and transference D2 12 13, D5 9.
LO5 Analyse activities and adapt environments to enhance participation in meaningful creative experiences D2 12, D5 11.

Facilitating Creative Activities
Introduction to creative methodologies, approaches and materials. Creative workshops: planning and facilitation of meaningful creative experiences that promotes the active engagement of service users D2 12, D5 16.
Partnership Approach to Creativity
Creative projects that demonstrate and promote partnerships with Service Users. Designing activities that meet needs, promotes choice and respects capacity D1 3, D2 12, D5 13 16.
Creativity for Self-awareness
Use of Creativity for self-expression and increased self-awareness. Understand role of creativity to challenge values and attitudes in practice; promote non-judgemental, anti-discriminatory, anti-oppressive and anti-racist professional judgements D1 8 22, D5 13.
Creativity for Relationship Development
Engaging in creative activities for relationship development, relationship boundaries, explore power and authority, transference and counter-transference in relationships D2 12 13, D5 9.
