The aims of the subject are:
1. To provide an understanding of the benefits and integration of sustainable building practices, circular economy theory, waste management and waste reduction methods in relation to the construction needs of the film industry.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of mitigation methods to limit environmental impact to existing natural environments, local amenities and eco systems whilst filming on location.
3. To examine general sustainable strategies throughout the whole lifespan of the filmmaking project.
4. To examine and apply sustainable certification methods for the film industry, e.g., GREEN FILM Certification and Albert Sustainable Production Certification.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1
Demonstrate knowledge of the environmental impact of constructing a film set and how these can be offset by applying circular economy theory and waste reduction management techniques.
LO2
Demonstrate knowledge of mitigation methods to limit environmental impact to existing natural environments, local amenities and eco systems whilst filming on location.
LO3
Demonstrate knowledge of general sustainable strategies throughout the whole lifespan of a filmmaking project.
LO4
Demonstrate knowledge relating to how the Film and TV Industry is Working Towards Sustainability using virtual production methods.
LO5
Demonstrate the ability to apply sustainable certification methods for the film industry.
