Teaching & Learning Strategies: Students work in teams of four on a detailed specification for a common type of business. The specification is provided by the tutor. The team develops an application that resides on a server and accesses a shared database. The deliverables are a database design, user interface design and all necessary code.
Module Aim: To provide the learner with the experience of working in a small team to produce a web application with database integration for a common type of business.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Engage, communicate and collaborate with other students as part of a small team.
LO2 Understand the importance of time-management skills when working to a deadline.
LO3 Appreciate the importance of advance planning as it relates to project management.
LO4 Produce fully-tested working code.
LO5 Produce high quality project documents to the required specification and format.
LO6 Present and discuss their work confidently in a demonstration setting.
