Teaching & Learning Strategies: The specific teaching and learning strategies, depend on the strand the leaner chooses, which include: • experiential learning, • peer learning, • e-learning, • self-directed learning, • lectures, • seminars, • studio-based learning.
Module Aim: The module aim is to enable learners gain knowledge & skills and develop behaviors & attitudes not otherwise afforded by limiting the learning experience to that provided by the programme, by spending a period in a partner academic environment; probably but not exclusively under the ERASMUS programme. The aim is to expose learners to a broader range of educational contexts and educational approaches and to develop capacities to think and operate independently and autonomously.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 describe and appraise a knowledge of the work practice in a a variety of academic contexts
LO2 use a formal documentation process to plan, record and review individual and group work process, practice and progress.
LO3 operate effectively, either independently, collaboratively or in groups on academically framed design problems, under the close direction and supervision of qualified faculty.
LO4 demonstrate a social and interpersonal skill to communicate ideas in familiar, new, uncertain and international contexts and to navigate language and cultural barriers effectively.

Pre-departure Support
PORTFOLIO: module descriptors, logistics & confirmations, health & safety, personal security, student code of discipline/student code of conduct, communication & oversight protocol & final schedule, personal documentation & learning agreement check and guidelines.
EDU+ Experience
The EDU+ (academic) experience will enable learners engage an alternative educational learning environment; probably but not exclusively under the ERASMUS programme. The 30 ECTS accredited duration for the EDU+ (academic) module will be awarded and validated by the partner college/institution as per the MOU and the learning agreement documentation. The curricular experience is scheduled to occur in Semester 1 of Stage 3 of the programme. However, it may take place at another time but must be completed before commencement of Semester 1 of Stage 4. The learner will be supported by the Programme Board placement co-ordinator/s, Careers Office and International Office will support and monitor learners and maintain contact with host institutes/organisations/agencies throughout the placement process. Placement contact will involve a minimum of two stream on-line progress interviews and a terminal interview.
Physical (resource)
Computing, internet access, video-coms/software & telephony; to enable supervisory and mentoring contact with learners while on placement.
Service (resources)
Travel expenses & national/international direct dial telephony communication access; to enable faculty meeting with placement partners and provide supervisory and mentoring contact with learners while on placement.
