Teaching & Learning Strategies: The learning outcomes will be achieved through the following teaching methodologies: Lectures – Communication of knowledge and ideas from the lecture to the student. Problem Solving Exercises – students will work in groups to analyse case studies and issues relevant to the history of photography. Class discussion and debates - students will be encouraged to actively participate in the class debates which will develop their analytical skills. E-Learning – Use of VLE (Blackboard) will be used Self-directed learning – Independent reading and research will be encouraged through the use of SETUs Learning Resource Centre.
Module Aim: The module aims to equip students with a broad understanding of the cultural and technological advancements in photography, from its origins to the advent of digital photography.

On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1 Ability to communicate significant developments in the history of photography
LO2 Deepen critical understanding of images as social representation and communication
LO3 Develop knowledge of theories on photography
LO4 Research and produce an academic project on photography
