Lectures - communication of knowledge and ideas from lecturer to student. Lab sessions - communication of knowledge by demonstration from lecturer to students. Problem solving - students will undertake a statistical survey project to practically apply the applications. Self-directed learning - the emphasis on independent learning will develop strong and autonomous work and learning practices.
Module Aim:
The aim of this module is to introduce the student to the theory of hardware, software and telecommunications. In addition, the student will be introduced to File Management, the college email system, Word Processing and Spreadsheet skills.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner should be able to:
LO1
The learner should be able to build and amend a directory structure in the file system.
LO2
The learner should be able to develop a formatted report using features of Word Processing software.
LO3
The learner should be able to apply features of spreadsheet software to calculate results.
LO4
The learner should be able to utilise presentation software to make a presentation.
